Improver and Novice Race Training is now run by the YDSC Sailing Committee
What's it all about?
The emphasis is on having fun, basing the activities on learning through 'mucking about': it's amazing what you can learn when you're laughing :)
Sessions are adapted to suit the numbers or experience of the sailors as well as the weather conditions and concentrate on building your boat handling skills to give you confidence to join the Sunday start line and race course. If it gets too windy, the session can move indoors to the training room for some theory.
Typical sessions can cover:
- Boat handling
- Starting
- Short format mini races
- Basic rules
When's it happening?
How do I take part?
- Get rigged up and ready to go.
If you're using a club boat, remember to allow time to book it at the galley. - Meet in the club room over lunchtime for a 1:30pm start
Note: Number of places are usually limited to a maximum of eight so you can always contact Dave Baxter in advance to reserve your place.
Take a look at some of the footage shot from aboard one of the boats taking part when we decided to do some start line practice :)
